Assateague Island Attains ‘Beach Buddy’ Status in Report of Dirty Beachers

Beach closings and advisories because of high bacteria levels are on the rise nationwide, according to a new report that awards high praise for pollution control to only five beach areas, all on the East Coast.<br /><br />The nationwide survey released by the Natural Resources Defense Council also singles out four states as “beach bums” for failing to regularly monitor their coastlines.

Revenue Doubles, But CoStar

CoStar Group Inc., the Internet-based real estate data giant, reported a $13.1 million net loss for the second quarter, five times its loss for the same period last year.<@SM><@SM><TAB>Although the Bethesda-based company doubled its revenues from $7.2 million to $14.5 million from last year, it still spent about $2 for every dollar it earned and cut the value of its stock by 85 cents a share. Last year its $2.6 million loss slashed stock by 23 cents a share.
