Court Orders Hearings on Six Death-Row Inmates’ Claims of Brutality

In a single day, the Illinois Supreme Court gave new hope to six inmates on death row, including two men who claim they were tortured into confessing.<@SM><@SM><TAB>As part of a series of decisions on the death penalty Thursday, the state’s highest court ordered hearings on whether Derrick King and Aaron Patterson were the victims of torture and poor legal representation.
