<p>ANNAPOLIS - Maryland's favorite turtle is off the hook for commercial harvest. State lawmakers brokered a deal Monday to permanently end the commercial harvest of the diamondback terrapin. The turtle is a hallmark critter of the Chesapeake Bay region, but its numbers are down because of habitat loss and harvesting.
