After the Freemasons moved their temple to a new location in Frederick in 1999, the old space has found a new use.
One of the most prestigious and fashionable private career schools, The TEMPLE: A Paul Mitchell Partner School opened its doors in 2005 and since then has helped more than 1,700 students become successful working professionals.
Housed in a 15,000-square-foot, 100-year-old Masonic Temple in the heart of downtown Frederick, the beauty school is an urban icon and active venue for the arts and community events. The exposed brick walls of our salon and classrooms are the backdrop for original murals and hand-blown fixtures from local artists.
The school offers several standout features.
The modern and urban feel is perfect for showcasing the building’s historic beauty. It’s part of a 50-block district that is rich with architectural and developmental interests.
The building was first planned on May 29, 1899, and the cornerstone was laid on April 12, 1901. The building was dedicated on Dec. 2, 1902. About 100 years later the Masons started work on their new building, and the school moved into the space in 2005.
