The McCormick & Company global headquarters in Hunt Valley is a 350,000-square-foot, seven-floor building that around 1,000 employees work in, including the corporate, marketing, finance and culinary departments.

More than 100 unique pieces of original artwork from local artists and around the world are featured in the building. Each represents one of the company’s five core principles: passion for flavor, power of people, taste you trust, driven to innovate and purpose-led performance.

The LEED Gold-certified building was repurposed and renovated to include a variety of unique areas. Those include state-of-the-art culinary kitchens that are used for product development and on-site culinary education, a coffee bar, health and wellness center and the exclusive company store.

The “Flavor Walk” hallway is a key area connecting the content studio, sensory testing facility and global culinary kitchen. Baltimore-based artists Jessie and Katey transformed the 135-foot hallway into a mural that features abstract art of flowing fields, drying spices, cooling utensils and McCormick condiments and spices.

McCormick encourages its employees to give back and volunteer in the community. In 2019 it partnered with the Maryland Food Bank and packed 5,200 meals for families during the Thanksgiving holiday. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it converted its annual charity day into a virtual food drive.

While parts of the building closed during the pandemic, the manufacturing and distribution facilities remained open as an essential business. It has applied to host vaccination clinics in a partnership with pharmacies to support its employees and the community.
