Megan Davey Limarzi prefers to be direct in communicating with others.
“In a world where most people would prefer to stay behind a screen and send emails, I prefer face-to-face conversation and work hard to foster personal relationships, which always lead to better communication and connection with those around me,” said Limarzi, inspector general in the Maryland Department of Health & Mental Hygiene. “I put the phone down and try to talk through issues so people know they have my attention, and then I make sure I follow through.”
Limarzi said her most significant professional accomplishment came while working in the Maryland Attorney General’s Office from 2007 until this February, when she was named to her current position.
“I prosecuted state employee misconduct cases that involved the theft of state funds,” she said. “The victims were members of our community who work hard and trust public servants. The investigations led to the recovery of millions of dollars, which were put back into the programs that benefit all Marylanders.”
Limarzi has served a member of the Olney Theater Center’s board of directors and also as the group’s vice president. She also is a volunteer stroke and turn official with the Montgomery County Swim League.
