Monica Garcia Harms

As both an attorney who specializes in family law and a married mother of two young children, Monica Garcia Harms knows a little something about the challenges of balancing a career and raising children.
More than that, she does something about it: She volunteers her time to help new family law attorneys, teaches continuing education courses on protective orders, and conducts basic family law training for new attorneys for the Bar Association of Montgomery County.
“The balance of having a fulfilling career and family is a constant challenge for any busy young professional,” Harms said.
“Law firms tend to be organizations where young parents, particularly women, often feel that they have to make a choice between their careers and their families. I’m committed to continuing to empower young parents that you can truly have it all — not with as much sleep as you’d like — if having a fulfilling career and family are the goals.”
A 2002 graduate of the George Washington University Law School, Harms has been honored the Bar Association of Montgomery County and volunteers with the Washington Ballet’s Women’s Committee and Sidwell Friends School.
