It’s not always easy being an attorney. Besides the long hours – made even longer since modern technology helped make 24/7 availability the expected norm – there are all those nasty lawyer jokes.

Which is why Sarah Cline, a real estate attorney in Montgomery County, spends a lot of time and energy helping her fellow attorneys, especially young attorneys, cope with the challenges of the profession.

Among her other activities, Cline is co-chairperson of the real estate section of the Montgomery County Bar Association, chairwoman of the charity event planning committee of the Young Lawyers Section of the Maryland Bar Association and a past president of the Anne Arundel County Women’s Bar Association.

She also has done extensive pro bono work for the Wills for Heroes Foundation, which provides free estate planning documents to police and firefighters. Her work for the organization earned Cline the Maryland Pro Bono Service Alex Fee Memorial Award in 2014.

“In general, attorneys are a hard-working group of people,” Cline said. “But I like to think that I stand out because of my dedication to the profession, both through volunteering on various governing councils and committees, and through mentoring young lawyers.”
