A high-ranking official from the Ehrlich administration has just been disbarred for \u201cflagrant\u201d neglect of a family-law client<\/a> in 2012. The Court of Appeals said Floyd R. Blair abandoned his client\u2019s custody case and didn\u2019t even show up for a hearing in June 2012. Blair left Maryland the following month to head Lutheran Services of Georgia.<\/p>\n

The Court of Appeals didn\u2019t mention Blair\u2019s career in Maryland politics, which began in controversy in September 2003 when Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. appointed him to lead the Baltimore City DSS without the consent of then-Mayor Martin O\u2019Malley. O\u2019Malley successfully sued to block the appointment; but two months after the July 2004 ruling, Ehrlich responded by making Blair deputy secretary of the Department of Human Resources \u2014 a post that gave Blair oversight of all 24 social services offices, including Baltimore City DSS.<\/p>\n
