A workers’ compensation attorney with deep roots in public sector law, Kendrick McLeod serves as counsel in the workers compensation and employers liability practice group at Semmes, representing employers and insurance companies. Before joining the firm, McLeod built his practice across another law firm, the Baltimore City Department of Law and Baltimore City Public Schools.

He holds a Juris Doctorate from Widener University Delaware School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Morgan State University. Active in bar leadership, McLeod served as president of the Monumental City Bar Association and co-chaired the Baltimore City Bar Association’s Judicial Selections Committee. The Bar Association of Baltimore City named him Government and Public Interest Lawyer of the Year in 2025.

A summa cum laude graduate of Towson State University, Scott R. Scherr earned his law degree with honors from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 1988 and was admitted to the Maryland Bar that December. He joined the Washington, D.C., bar in 1995.

Scherr holds a perfect 10 rating on both AVVO and Justia and carries Martindale-Hubbell’s highest AV designation. He has been named to Maryland Super Lawyers seven consecutive years, 2020 through 2026, an honor reserved for the top 5% of the state’s attorneys. His Towson practice covers automobile accidents, personal injury, workers’ compensation, criminal defense, DUI, traffic matters and Motor Vehicle Administration hearings.

A native of Montgomery County, Matt Trollinger launched his legal career at a personal injury firm in Washington, D.C., before returning to Maryland in 2011 to expand his practice to include workers’ compensation. He founded Trollinger Law LLC in 2017 to serve injured clients across the area from a base in Charles County.

Trollinger earned his law degree from Regent University and also studied through the International Law & Human Rights Program in Strasbourg, France, and at Oxford University’s Hertford College. An elected town council member in La Plata, he has coached swimming, basketball and youth soccer in Charles County.

What is the biggest challenge facing your industry today?

The biggest challenge facing legal services right now is adapting to technological advancements while still providing quality client service. Large firms appear to be drifting further and further away from their mission of representing the people they claim to serve. Fewer attorneys are willing to go to court, in part due to legislators’ insistence on protecting insurance company interests over hardworking families who are injured through negligence or workplace incidents, such as by limiting juries through arbitrary caps on damages.

Nationwide, we are seeing corporate interests invest in and take over law practices, while conflicts of interest are increasingly ignored. Small firms can, and do, still provide the best opportunity for an injured person to have their fair day in court. This is where Trollinger law meets the needs of its client base by incorporating a client first, litigation firm.

Love God, love people. Put your clients’ interests over your own.

How do you define success?

Success is leaving a legacy worth remembering for your family, your clients and your community. We are only given a small amount of time on this earth, and we can all make a difference in someone’s life by striving for excellence in what we do.
