City to settle two excessive force lawsuits

The Baltimore Board of Estimates is scheduled Wednesday to approve a total of $110,000 in settlements for two cases where police officers were alleged to have used excessive force — one in which a drunk driver suffered a broken jaw, the other a claim of assault by a school police officer against a special-needs student during an arrest.

Baltimore to pay $250K to man who shot video of Preakness arrest

The city’s Board of Estimates is set to approve a $250,000 settlement with an Owings Mills man who alleged police seized his cellphone and deleted video he took of his friend being arrested during the 2010 Preakness Stakes.

Park Heights Renaissance gets more city money

Baltimore’s spending board has approved a request from the city’s housing department to continue funding administration and operations at Park Heights Renaissance Inc., a nonprofit that opened in 2008 to redevelop the community in the northwest part of the city that includes Pimlico Race Track.
