Md. Legal Services reports nearly $7M drop, cites pandemic

While a filing fee surcharge that accounts for 80 percent Maryland Legal Services Corp.’s revenue does not sunset until next year, the organization is planning this General Assembly session to make the surcharge permanent. ‘We know this dramatic loss of funding is imminent and want to be proactive,’ Executive Director Susan M. Erlichman says. ‘The crisis is headed our way and there is no need to wait until it’s at the door.’
