PHOTO: Sending ‘Bags of Love’ to Puerto Rico

Baltimore based entrepreneurs and Puerto Rican natives Diana Torruella Gaines of Tu Casa Development Group, Left, and Elda M. Devarie, President and CEO of EMD Sales, Inc have teamed up to ship about 450,000 pounds of donated goods to Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria's devastation back in September. Their current effort is to ship 1,500 holiday care packages through the EMD Sales annual "Bags of Love" program to Puerto Rican families by Christmas. The 25-pound packages will consist of a meal to feed a family of 8 to be cooked over an outdoor fire, fresh water, a board game, candy, and a handmade Christmas card made by local elementary school students. The boxes will be assembled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 2 at EMD Sales, Inc. at 2010 Washington Boulevard. Volunteers are welcome. More volunteer and donation information can be found by calling 301-322-4503, ext. 113. (The Daily Record/Maximilian Franz)
