Maryland’s top court overturned a half-million-dollar negligent-hiring verdict Monday, saying a trial judge improperly permitted a jury to hear that a trucker’s liability insurance policy was canceled for nonpayment prior to his employment and before he struck a Frederick pedestrian, causing him severe injuries.
