More Maryland law grads finding jobs, but still below national average

The percentage of Maryland law graduates who found jobs requiring a law degree ticked up this year but still lags behind the national trend, according to recently released American Bar Association data. Of the 610 members of the 2014 graduating classes at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and the University of Baltimore School of Law, 57.2 percent were employed ten months later in positions that require a JD, compared to 64.1 percent of law grads across the nation. But that’s still an improvement over last year, when about 54 percent of local law school graduates from the class of 2013 had jobs that required them to be lawyers.
