Holly Freischtat’s greatest accomplishment has been her work to develop partnerships to address the issue of access to healthy, affordable food and sustainable food systems. She created the Baltimore Food Policy Initiative, an intergovernmental collaboration, and Baltimore’s Food Policy Advisory Committee, a group of 50 nonprofits, businesses and academic and government agencies.
She also was a key member in developing the Food Desert Retail Strategy, resulting in the passing of a personal property tax credit for supermarkets in food deserts.
