Patricia M.C. Brown
President, Johns Hopkins HealthCare LLC
Senior Counsel, Johns Hopkins Health System
Since 1994, Patricia M.C. Brown has served as senior counsel for the Johns Hopkins Health System. In 2000, she also was tapped to lead Johns Hopkins HealthCare, which required her to shift her focus from the legal operations to meeting business mandates. Her goals: To help John Hopkins continue to offer top quality health care while improving the health of its patients and the communities around it.
Philanthropy is also important to her and she is active in many organizations, including American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association and United Way of Central Maryland.
Through my journeys, I see firsthand, from my drive to work and school through Baltimore to my home in Anne Arundel County, the contrasts of wealth and poverty. Maryland is the wealthiest state in the country. Yet, in the midst of this wealth, 1 in 10 adults and 1 in eight children live in poverty. As I got older, I found myself wanting to connect these “two Marylands” through work, service and philanthropy as best as I can with the resources I have been given. I hope I have made an impact and I hope that I will continue to do so. This is the path I feel drawn to follow.
