Deborah Sweet Eyler
Maryland Court of Appeals
In 20 years on the Maryland Court of Appeals, Deborah Eyler has written nearly 2,000 opinions. But her most significant professional achievement, she said, was leading the Maryland commission that created new rules for pro bono practice by lawyers, rules that resulted in more free legal work.
Eyler, who cites raising her now-adult son mostly on her own while working as an attorney as her top personal achievement, also has made a special effort to mentor her former law clerks – especially the women.
