In 1988, Terry D. Sherman Ralston left a government job, bought an old truck stop in Elkridge and took out a phone book ad for her brand new business. Today, Delmarva Trailers is a full-service trailer company specializing in renting and selling office trailers, modular, office and storage containers with a client base of more than 250,000.

Ralston is an executive board member with the Anti-Defamation League and has worked to expand the group’s recognition of law enforcement officers who have fought successfully against hate crimes.

Ralston also volunteers with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic.

How have you made Maryland a better place?

“Have you ever visited a construction site? Not too many women there! Based on my knowledge accumulated over three decades in this male-dominated field, my objective has always been to provide real-world leadership and a clear vision for women contemplating a career in construction.”
