Shanaysha M. Sauls serves as president and CEO of a philanthropic organization with more than $250 million in assets. Sauls joined the Baltimore Community Foundation in 2018 and is the first person of color and the first woman to serve as CEO in its history. She formerly served as chair of the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Council of the Great City Schools. Sauls co-founded one of Baltimore’s first wholly new charter schools and served as founding treasurer of a nonprofit focused on advocating for family-friendly community development.

Graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Maryland, College Park and earned a Ph.D. from Duke University. 

Key Accomplishments

Shanaysha M. Sauls has served as President and CEO of the Baltimore Community Foundation (BCF) since 2018, where she drives the growth agenda for the Foundation by inspiring donors to achieve their charitable goals while focusing on how BCF influences the quality of life in Baltimore.  Sauls is the chair of the Mission Investors Exchange and has held numerous leadership roles prior to BCF including CEO of the Foundation for the Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women, Baltimore City School Chair, and local and national board positions including Healthy Neighborhoods.
