The granddaughter of L.L. Hubble, who founded The Hubble Company Real Estate in 1918, Karen Hubble Bisbee represents the third generation of her family in real estate. She graduated from Hollins College in 1981 and has built a career spanning 48 years across Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Bisbee established Hubble Bisbee Christie’s International Real Estate in 2023 and serves as its managing principal. She holds Graduate Realtor Institute and Accredited Buyer Representative designations and has been a nationally recognized Top Producer since 1996, ranking No. 4 in volume for large teams in Maryland in 2022. Bisbee co-founded TLC Lacrosse in 2004 and has served on the Baltimore Museum of Art’s Women’s Committee.

Twenty years in the home-building industry shaped Chris Hill’s instincts before he earned his real estate license in 2009. Now, he leads a Century 21 team serving clients in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties. 

His leadership has centered around legislative advocacy and member engagement. He is a major investor in the Realtors Political Action Committee. 

He received Rookie of the Year honors from the Southern Maryland Association of Realtors and Century 21 New Millennium in 2010. Board service with both organizations advanced his career, and in 2023 Hill took office as president of Maryland Realtors following a role as secretary. 

Johnston joined the Anne Arundel County Association of Realtors in 2002 as government affairs director, advancing to vice president of government affairs, then chief operating officer before becoming CEO in 2018. He holds a Bachelor of Science in business and public administration from the University of Maryland and earned the Realtor Certified Executive designation — the National Association of Realtors’ highest association certification — in 2005.

AACAR launched a Tech Help Line for members in 2024 and the TetherRE Security Lookup/Monitoring App in 2025. Johnston was inducted into the 2026 Presidents Circle, Hall of Fame by the National Association of Realtors.

What is the biggest challenge facing your industry today?

We are in a housing crisis. We no longer build starter homes, and there is incredible demand that drives up prices and reduces affordability. We are working with the builders and elected officials at all levels to get changes to increase affordability.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

When things get tough and bog down, stop, step back and look for a better solution; don’t just keep going. Also, when things go well, give the staff credit; when things go wrong, accept responsibility (regardless of cause).
