What is the biggest challenge facing your industry today?

One of the biggest challenges facing the practice of law today is preserving trust in the justice system while keeping up with the speed and complexity of modern litigation. Lawyers are now expected to manage massive volumes of digital evidence, respond to rapidly changing technology and navigate increasing public skepticism about whether the system is fair, efficient and accessible. At the same time, clients want faster results and lower costs, while courts still expect precision, professionalism and strict compliance with the rules. The result is a profession under constant pressure to do more, faster, without losing the judgment, ethics and human skill that good lawyering requires.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Your reputation walks into the room before you do.

How do you define success?

For me, success is about family. It means raising my family the right way, being present for them and knowing that no professional accomplishment matters much if you are not also succeeding at home. In the end, real success is having both a meaningful career and a strong family life.

In law, success is doing good work, keeping your word and building a reputation that lasts longer than any single win. It is not just about verdicts or results; it is about whether clients trust you, whether judges respect you and whether, at the end of the day, you know you handled things the right way.

Key Accomplishments

One of my most meaningful accomplishments has been practicing law alongside my family for more than 30 years. That experience gave me the opportunity to learn from prior generations, develop substantial courtroom and trial experience, and build a practice grounded in hard work, loyalty, and service to clients.

The support and foundation I received through my family practice also allowed me to become deeply involved in the organized bar, take on leadership and professional-development opportunities, and contribute to the legal community beyond my own cases. I am especially proud to have become a law school teacher at the University of Baltimore School of Law, where I have been able to share the practical lessons I learned in the courtroom with future lawyers.

Together, these experiences—family practice, trial advocacy, bar service, and legal education—represent the accomplishments of which I am most proud.
