Hampstead Hill Academy breaks ground on facility expansion and improvement in south Baltimore

Hampstead Hill Academy (HHA), a public charter conversion school in southeast for students from kindergarten through eighth grade, Thursday kicked off a major school expansion and improvement project.

The Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) and HHA are embarking on a 12-month construction project to expand the school facilities. This project includes a new gymnasium with seating for spectators, an additional classroom and new student restrooms which will provide an additional 9,545 square feet of space.

The BCP is the largest operator of local neighborhood, public charter schools in Maryland, including HHA.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were Maryland Senate President Bill Ferguson, Baltimore City Councilmember Zeke Cohen, Baltimore City Public Schools Chief of Staff Alison Perkins-Cohen, Baltimore Comptroller Bill Henry, Dels. Robbyn Lewis and Mark Eddleston and HHA Principal Matt Hornbeck.
