Earth Starter LLC, a garden products started by two graduates, was the top winner in the eighth annual Cupid’s Cup Business held at the UM campus in College Park.

The event, in its first year as a national business competition, was hosted by the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the Robert H. Smith School of Business.

is sponsored by alumnus , founder and CEO of Baltimore-based Inc.

Earth Starter, which makes a modular garden kit called Nourishmat, won $52,500 as well as exclusive access to Plank’s professional network.

Six companies from universities in Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, Florida and California were finalists in this year’s competition.
