Hometown bar backs Military Bowl

The big guns have lined up as expected on the list of corporate sponsors for Friday’s Military Bowl at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, including companies with a big presence in Maryland: Northrop Grumman, Marriott, Navy Federal Credit Union and GEICO.

Also on the list is NewDay USA, a Fulton-based mortgage lender that specializes in loans to military personnel, veterans and their families.

But hometown Annapolis businesses are supporting the bowl game as well, including Heroes Pub, the local cops-and-firefighters bar in a residential neighborhood tucked in alongside Route 50. Heroes has signed up as two-star sponsor (hey, it’s the Military Bowl — you knew they would assign ranks).

Heroes Pub is locally famous for having 48 beers on tap. No doubt they’re supporting the Terrapins, but they probably wouldn’t say no if a Thundering Herd stopped by after the game.
