In an effort to improve lawyers’ overall health, the Maryland State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section is holding a wellness retreat on Friday to help attorneys deal with stress by learning mindfulness, yoga and meditation techniques.

Lawyer wellness is increasingly a focus of the legal community. In 2017, the American Bar Association formed a working group to examine and to give recommendations about attorney mental health and substance use issues, as well as to help legal employers create healthy work environments.

The MSBA retreat will feature a keynote address from Melvin White, partner at Berliner Corcoran & Rowe LLP in Washington and a former president of the D.C. Bar Association.

The retreat will take place at the Sheraton Columbia Town Center Hotel from noon to 5 p.m. and is open to all MSBA members. Attendees should wear comfortable, casual clothes.

This event is free to the first 50 registrants and $35 for everyone else. Lunch will be provided and a reception will be held after the retreat.
