A Maryland maker of digital scanners for libraries and archivists announced the release of new software for its microfilm and microfiche scanners.

The new software for The Crowley Co.’s Mekel Technology scanners integrates with Windows 10 and offers new options for microfiche scanning, the company said in a news release.

The software will allow some scanners to scan images in a serpentine pattern (rather than horizontally or vertically) to decrease scan time and lengthen hardware life. Other software enhancements are also included.

Crowley acquired Mekel Technology in 2003.
