Mr. Trash Wheel to hit literary world in Dr. Seuss’ ‘The Lorax’ series
Baltimore’s own Mr. Trash Wheel is set to make his debut in the literary world in “Green Machines and Other Amazing Eco-Inventions,” the latest addition to Dr. Seuss’s “The Lorax” book series.
The book, scheduled for release on March 5 by Penguin Random House, showcases eco-friendly inventions from around the world with Mr. Trash Wheel representing Baltimore‘s commitment to cleaner waterways on the front cover.
To celebrate the new book’s release, Waterfront Partnership’s Healthy Harbor Initiative is partnering with the Enoch Pratt Free Library and the National Aquarium for “Mr. Trash Wheel Presents: A Story Time and Sing-along Event” March 9 at 11 a.m. with a special children’s-focused reading by Enoch Pratt Free Library staff and a Mr. Trash Wheel sing-along led by Waterfront Partnership’s Adam Lindquist, co-creator of Mr. Trash Wheel and vice president of the Healthy Harbor Initiative, with participation from the National Aquarium.

Since its installation in 2014, Mr. Trash Wheel has removed millions of pounds of debris from the Inner Harbor, preventing pollution from reaching the Chesapeake Bay. In addition to collecting a million pounds of litter and debris each year, the trash wheels harness their googly-eyed personalities to educate the public and provide data to inform trash reduction legislation related to waste reduction.
