Antietam Broadband investing $32M in Carroll County for mutli-gig internet service
Hagerstown-based Antietam Broadband Tuesday announced a plan to invest $32 million to bring next-generation fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) availability to Carroll County by the end of 2024.
In early 2024, New Windsor, Union Bridge, Taneytown and Eldersburg will be the first to have the choice of Flight Fiber, a system with the ability to deliver up to 2.5 Gpbs speeds, in their communities. Flight Fiber will continue to expand and provide choice to other areas of Carroll County as well as Washington County. It is scheduled to include both incorporated and unincorporated areas of the county.
The service is currently available in areas within the city of Hagerstown, Boonsboro and Sharpsburg. In 2024, the network will expand in Washington and Carroll Counties.
Antietam Broadband, founded in 1966, was acquired by Schurz Communications Inc. in 1968. Antietam is a full-service telecommunications company offering a full range of residential and business-class technology solutions including fiber, internet, video, and phone service. Antietam currently operates in Washington and Carroll counties.
