Thousands of people braved the heat June 22 and 23 to kick off the season at the 2024 Arts & Drafts Summer Music & Arts Festival, held for the fourth year in a row at Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Halethorpe.

This free, two-day festival presented by the   Arts Guild (BCAG) featured unique art pieces for sale from more than 40 top and diverse craftspeople from throughout the mid-Atlantic specializing in glass, acrylic and watercolor painting, photography, pottery, mixed media, 3D, jewelry, sculpture, woodworking, furniture and much more.

Monica Herber, executive director of the BCAG, said the jury had a difficult time selecting the winners this year, highlighting the vast artistic talent in the region

The BCAG is a nonprofit which serves as the managing entity of the Baltimore County Arts & Entertainment Districts and offers community-based creative projects, concerts and exhibits and provides local artists with affordable studio space.

Live bands performed throughout the weekend and there were fun activities for all ages. Individual art projects included yarn art, plus magnet and fan decorating. Interactive community projects included connecting individual puzzle pieces into large artwork and banner painting.

In addition to exploring the Guinness facility, guests also personalized fans, magnets and puzzle pieces, took selfies and learned to pour Baltimore-brewed beers such as Blueberry Lime Ale and Harmonic Haze, which Guinness created especially for Arts & Drafts.
