Moore appoints new District Court judge in Worcester County

Gov. announced the appointment of a judge in on Wednesday.

Michael “Mike” Farlow was appointed to the bench, according to a release from the governor’s office. He has been a prosecutor in the Office of the Worcester County State Attorney for the past seven years. Before that, he was a solo practitioner in Ocean Pines where he focused on major traffic offenses, criminal law, asset forfeiture and wills and trusts. He worked part-time in the state attorney’s office from 2003 to 2010.

“Mike Farlow is a dedicated public servant whose career as a prosecutor and private attorney has prepared him well for the bench,” Moore said in a news release. “His commitment to the people of Worcester County, both in the courtroom and through his extensive community service, is a testament to the integrity and fairness he will bring to the district court. We are proud to see him serve in this new role.”

He formerly served as a commissioner for the Town of Pittsville and was the youngest elected official in Maryland at the time, having been elected at the age of 19. He has received several awards for his service to volunteer fire departments, including the Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Department and Pittsville Volunteer Fire Department. He was recently inducted into the Maryland State Firemen’s Association Hall of Fame.

He earned his law degree from the Widener University School of Law.
