ANNAPOLIS — Maryland Rep. Andy Harris says he has decided not to support military force in Syria, if the matter is brought before Congress for a vote.
Harris, Maryland’s lone Republican House member, announced in a statement on Tuesday that he doesn’t believe using military force against Syria is in the national security interest of the United States.
Harris made the announcement after attending a classified briefing on Monday night. He also says he made the decision about his position after much consideration.
Harris represents Maryland’s Eastern Shore, as well as parts of Cecil, Harford, Baltimore and Carroll counties.
