RadioShack Corp. will close its Hagerstown distribution center in March and lay off its 87 employees there, according to a notice from the state labor department.
Some employees may be retained until the company closes the facility, but it is unclear how many people might stay or for how long.
Representatives for RadioShack, a Fort Worth, Texas-based company, did not immediately return calls seeking more information Thursday afternoon.
The company, which has had plummeting sales revenue, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Thursday. RadioShack operates 4,000 stores across the country but said it will sell up to 2,400 of them.
The layoffs at the Hagerstown distribution facility are set to occur March 11.
