Assistant Attorney General
Office of the Attorney General of Maryland

Meghan Marek left private practice in 2015 to become the Assistant Attorney General for the College Savings Plans of Maryland, where she provides legal counsel to the board of trustees, the executive director and agency staff for Maryland 529, which administers the state’s college savings programs.

She also has played a leading role in developing and launching the Maryland ABLE program, a savings program for people with disabilities.

Out of the office, Marek’s community service centers on women’s issues.

“I have been honored to serve on the Boards of Planned Parenthood of Maryland and now the Maryland Women’s Law Center,” Marek said. “One of my goals in serving on nonprofit boards is to increase community awareness of the organization, its mission, its successes and what others can do to help. … You have to lead and inspire by example. I hope that through others seeing my commitment to the organization and to public service, they will be inspired to serve as well.”
