Power 10012. Neil Meltzer

President and CEO, LifeBridge Health

Neil Meltzer has been president and CEO of LifeBridge Health since 2013, leading an effort to transform the health care organization into an integrated system.

The effort has involved the acquisition of Carroll Hospital in 2015 as well as the expansion of key strategic partnerships with organizations that provide medical transportation, retail pharmacy, urgent care, health insurance, assisted living and more.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in your career?

One thing I’ve learned over my career is the power of collaboration over control. Running a health system is a “team sport” and our most valuable players are our people and the passion, skills and values they bring to our organization.

What’s been your biggest success?

LifeBridge Health is building a legacy of reimagining what a community health system can be. We are transforming traditional thinking of how hospitals can impact positive change outside of the four walls of a hospital. I am proud of the many incredibly innovative initiatives we have taken on beyond what many people would think a health system can and should do.

What are your hopes for the state or your community this year?

I hope we can positively impact the social determinants of health that keep our region from being the best we can be. With The Family Tree joining LifeBridge Health, we look to build on their decades of excellent work, and, along with our Center for Hope, create a national model for the prevention of child abuse.

What do you do to unplug in your free time?

I try to make it a priority to exercise, which I find helps me both physically and mentally. I enjoy riding my bike and paddle boarding in the summer. I also enjoy traveling and have been fortunate to have taken some wonderful trips with my family.
