Baltimore-based athletic apparel manufacturer Under Armour Thursday announced it has renewed its contract with Jackson State University as the official outfitter of all 17 of the university’s varsity sports with a five-year extension through 2029.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
This extension is grounded in Under Armour’s commitment to supporting student-athletes on the field, in the classroom and on the job with its HBCU Career Combine in addition to JSU’s historic year for women’s sports with the basketball, softball, regular season tennis and volleyball teams claiming Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) championship titles.
In 2022, Under Armour committed to raising the game and deepening relationships with historically Black colleges and universities, including Jackson State. As part of this effort, Under Armour has hosted an annual early career program to provide professional development and networking opportunities for students interested in the sporting goods and apparel industry.
This program – the HBCU Career Combine – allows participants to learn from top UA talent in fashion, retail, design, and business and receive critical leadership skills to support their career journey. Jackson State student-athletes participated in this year’s Career Combine, which took place at Under Armour’s headquarters over the course of three days.
