Tara Clary is a partner at Baird Mandalas Brockstedt & Federico LLC with more than  25 years of litigation experience handling all facets of the most complex medical malpractice matters, from investigation through discovery and trial. Clary has extensive trial experience and was recently recognized for obtaining two of the largest medical malpractice verdicts in the country. She is the recipient of many esteemed awards, including the 2023 Lawyers of Distinction, 2023 World’s Most Influential Women in Law, Top 100 Jury Verdicts: Medical Malpractice 2019, and more.

Clary graduated cum laude from Washington and Lee University with a degree in politics and French. She is also a cum laude graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law. She has been a member of the Maryland Bar for more than 25 years.

What’s the most important thing you do in your job?

My vision as a leader is to be unafraid to make hard decisions and accept responsibility for them, but to do so with transparency and decency. This can be difficult with the daily rush of litigation challenges.

What is one aspect of your profession you would like to change?

Women are still underrepresented within so many areas of law, especially at the partner level. While my firm is exemplary with respect to recognizing and rewarding the talents of so many diverse women, I encourage other law firms to follow suit.

If you weren’t in this profession, what would you be doing?

Believe it or not, I would be a health care provider of some sort.
