Sandbox VR, a location-based experience company, will open its newest location in on May 8, the company announced Wednesday.

Located at 720 Aliceanna Street, the venue will look to bring an immersive, “next-generation” experience to one of the city’s waterfront neighborhoods, according to a news release. Originally, the venue was scheduled to open in winter 2025.

With more than 65 locations internationally, Sandbox VR uses state-of-the-art virtual reality technology as groups of up to six individuals wear VR headsets and motion sensors that capture their full body movements, the release says. These capabilities enable VR users to physically interact with one another inside a shared virtual world.

LOL Entertainment, a Chicago-based entertainment agency, is partnering with Sandbox VR to make the experience possible.

“Baltimore is a city built on community and curiosity, and Harbor East embodies that energy. With a dynamic mix of residents, professionals, and visitors, it’s the perfect place for Sandbox VR to bring people together through immersive, next-level shared experiences,” LOL Entertainment founder and CEO Rob Cooper said in a statement.

Guests may also choose from 11 different VR experiences, including the new “Stranger Things: Catalyst,” formed in partnership with Netflix, according to the release. Other experiences include “Rebel Moon: The Descent,” “Deadwood PHOBIA,” “Squid Game Virtuals” and more.

Tickets for the Sandbox VR Baltimore grand opening are now available.
