Annapolis, DC beverage distributors acquired by Mitchell Companies

Mitchell Companies is expanding into the Annapolis and Washington, D.C., markets after entering into an agreement to acquire beverage distributors Katcef Brothers Inc., Montgomery Eagle Inc., and Capital Eagle Inc. from the Katcef family.

This acquisition, announced May 16, strengthens Mitchell Companies’ partnership with Anheuser-Busch, a release says. 

Over the coming months, the entities involved in the transaction seek to achieve a seamless transition, prioritizing continuity for employees, customers and supplier partners, a Mitchell Companies release says.

Mitchell Companies, a collection of businesses connected by common ownership, consists of Mitchell Distributing, Mitchell Signs, Southern LED Solutions and Chesapeake Beverage.

The Montgomery Eagle and Capital Eagle are based in Washington, while Katcef Brothers is based in Annapolis.

“This is an exciting step forward for our companies,” Chesapeake Beverage CEO Evan Athanas said according to a release. 

“This acquisition reflects the strength of our organization, the trust of our partners, and the hard work of our teams. It allows us to expand our capabilities while creating new opportunities for our employees to grow and succeed.”

Mitchell Distributing operates four warehouses in Mississippi and a location in Baltimore. Katcef Brothers grew to be a staple in the Annapolis area throughout its 93 years in business.
