Lauren Asghari became an entrepreneur seven years ago when she founded Alderson Loop, a technical and creative project staffing and consulting company in Sykesville. For Asghari, one of the greatest benefits of having a successful business is being able to help others.
“From the time I started the business, I have been actively involved with many nonprofits, and so have the employees at Alderson Loop,” she said. “I believe that in any size organization, it is important to give back to the community.”
Asghari and her employees have made donations and volunteered with Junior Achievement, the Nathan Chris Baker Foundation, Believe in Tomorrow and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. In the last two years, her employees said which nonprofits were important to them, and after employees voted and one was selected, a donation was made and employees performed a half-day of service for the nonprofit.
“We are committed to being active members of the community,” she said.
Asghari is a member of the board of directors with the National Kidney Foundation serving Maryland and Baltimore and is its chair of fund development. The organization’s Kidney Walk has raised nearly $600,000 in the last three years under Asghari’s leadership, said Patricia A. Dash, foundation executive director.
“Lauren exemplifies the values of a true leader, she is innovative, passionate and committed,” Dash said.
