“Throughout the summer, I had the opportunity to not only provide guidance and mentorship to the bright young minds who represent the future of our profession, but also to learn from them in turn and take inspiration from their fresh perspectives and enthusiasm for the law,” Webster said. The first class graduated from the program in 2023.
Webster, who specializes in construction law, has served in various roles, including as chair, through the Maryland State Bar Association Construction Law Section.
In the words of MSBA Construction Law Section Treasurer Emily Brennan, “Lucas has always been one of the most involved members of our council and is always willing to join a subcommittee or help to organize an event. As chair of the council this year, his leadership has been integral in reviving the Construction Section after several years of stagnancy following [the COVID-19 pandemic].”
Webster said one of the reasons he joined the firm was due to its demonstrated commitment to improve the community.
“It is my hope to inspire younger attorneys to find joy and satisfaction in the same areas; mentoring, education and giving back to the profession and our community. It is fulfilling to think that these young leaders will continue to embrace our culture of giving back and will pass this on to future members of our firm,” Webster said.
Webster, whose wife is a teacher in a Title I elementary school, is also dedicated to helping public schools.
“Our family supports initiatives through the school’s Family Outreach and Black Student Achievement Programs, including Adopt-A-Family and Career Day presentations to the students,” he said.
Webster also is on the board of directors and offers pro bono legal counsel to Second Chance Wildlife Center.
Webster earned his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College.
