Lindsay ParvisLindsay Parvis, a principal at Joseph Greenwald & Laake P.A., is a client-focused family law practitioner serving clients while they navigate divorce, custody, domestic violence and financial matters, including alimony, child support and property division.

Nisa C. Subasinghe, domestic and guardianship program manager at the Administrative Office of the Courts, described Parvis as “one of the first people who comes to mind when I think of attorneys who have shown tremendous dedication to the legal profession and selfless, tireless commitment to the community.”

“She is a fountain of knowledge, thoughtful and not afraid of difficult work,” Subasinghe wrote. “She also empowers and advocates for other practitioners to speak up and take a seat at the table, even if that means giving up her own.”

David Pantzer, who received the Leadership in Law honor in 2020, first worked with Parvis a decade ago at the Maryland State Law Library, where she volunteered to help update the Maryland People’s Law Library website.

“She was one of the willing volunteers, and I have always remained grateful for her contribution to supporting the frighteningly large number of Marylanders who cannot afford a paid attorney and are stuck going it alone in court,” Pantzer wrote.

Parvis has provided custody law training for volunteer attorneys in Allegany County, hosted litigation training for pro bono lawyers at her firm and mentored less experienced attorneys through the Pro Bono Resource Center Professional Skills Academy.

Parvis identifies her most significant professional accomplishment as her contributions to legislative advocacy since 2005, focusing on family law through the MSBA Family Section since 2013. She currently serves as treasurer of the MSBA Family Law Section Council.

When asked where she sees herself in 20 years, Parvis stated she would like to be retired, volunteering her time to mentorship and pro bono cases, “reflecting back on how I shifted from doer to mentor, cheerleader, supporter and helped people grow into the important volunteer work still to be done.”
