Catie Griggs, MBA made history in July 2024 when she was named president of business operations for the Baltimore Orioles, becoming the first female president of business operations in team history. In this role, she oversees all aspects of business operations for both the Orioles and the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN).

Griggs brings extensive sports industry leadership to Baltimore, having spent three years with the Seattle Mariners as their president of business operations. During her tenure, she managed all aspects of the Mariners’ business operations, including investments in improving technology, operations and fan experience at T-Mobile Park. Under her leadership, T-Mobile Park became the first venue to host both MLB All-Star Week in 2023 and the NHL Winter Classic in 2024 within a calendar year. Combined, the two events generated more than $80 million in revenue for the city of Seattle and directly engaged more than 300,000 fans.

Prior to the Mariners, Griggs spent four years from 2017 to 2021 helping build Atlanta United into one of the premier Major League Soccer franchises, serving as chief business officer and overseeing all aspects of the Atlanta United front office. Earlier in her career, she worked with Futures Sport & Entertainment and Turner Broadcasting.

Currently serving as a member of the Greater Baltimore Committee, Griggs explained her approach to leadership in Maryland: “One of the most important lessons I’ve learned since stepping into leadership in Maryland is the power of listening to the community,” she said. “The path to progress starts with understanding: walking the ballpark, sitting in different sections, talking to fans and staff and absorbing the culture before making decisions.”

Regarding challenges she has faced, Griggs noted, “The biggest challenge has been stepping into a legacy organization with deep roots and expectations. I’ve approached this by prioritizing learning—about the city, the fans, the staff and the business.”

She described her approach to making a positive impact: “My goal has been to ensure that Camden Yards and the Orioles remain an integral, uplifting part of Baltimore’s culture—enhancing the fan experience, supporting local partnerships and working to attract major events like the MLB All-Star Game.”
