Sheri Hoidra is the principal attorney of Sheri Hoidra Law Office LLC. She received her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2012, and a bachelor of arts from the University of Maryland, College Park.
As a family law attorney who also specializes in immigration law, she is familiar with the intersectionality between those two areas of practice. Understanding these nuances has allowed her to serve as a point of reference for other family law practitioners with complicated immigration questions.
What’s the most important thing you do in your job?
The most important goal I achieve within my practice is to provide a compassionate and personalized approach to the legal representation of my clients. I practice with an intention to empower individuals and families, taking pride in guiding clients through some of life’s most significant challenges.
What qualities do you need to be a successful family law practitioner?
A successful family law practioner is an empathetic and strategic ear to clients who are in the most challenging transitionary period of their lives. Clients do not often understand the impact of separation dates, allegations of abuse, or the legitimacy of divorce and marriage decrees from other countries in their cases and my role is to determine which facts serve my client’s interest. Also, I offer an alternative to “big law” by providing flat fee services, which is not common in family law.
Outside of your legal practice, what activities or interests are you passionate about?
Outside of my legal practice, I am very passionate about women’s rights, humanitarian advocacy and being a working mom who does not sacrifice her mental health for the sake of practicing law.
