A new partnership between Baltimore-based Assisted Rehab Inc. and Springwell Senior Living is bringing onsite rehabilitation services to residents at the Mount Washington community.
The collaboration enhances Springwell’s commitment to resident safety, wellness and independence by offering convenient access to physical, occupational and speech therapy directly on campus.
Springwell previously relied on outside therapy providers before transitioning to an integrated onsite rehabilitation partnership with Assisted Rehab.
“We considered three companies, but Assisted Rehab stood out as stellar,” Springwell Executive Director Phil Golden said. “Like us, they are Baltimore based, with a strong history and reputation. I really liked Regali’s involvement as both an owner and therapist,” Golden said.
Golden said Regali demonstrated an understanding of what residents need.

For families concerned about fall risks, mobility challenges or recovery after illness or injury, an onsite rehabilitation provider offers added peace of mind.
“Many of our residents need rehabilitation for balance and strength so it’s nice that they now have the opportunity to get that here instead of at a nursing home,” Golden said.
Residents recovering from common surgeries like hip and knee replacements — procedures that once might have required extended hospital stays — can now complete therapy onsite.
“Strengthening is a necessary component of recovery from such surgeries,” Golden said.
Golden noted that onsite rehabilitation, as part of Springwell’s Partners in Care Program, is just one example of embedded service providers enhancing convenience for residents.
“We have an audiologist who comes to campus, a podiatrist, a medical director, spiritual services and soon we may also have a mobile dental clinic,” Golden said.
Springwell is also retaining two full-time therapists, ensuring familiar faces during the transition.

Regali brings decades of experience to the role, having worked as a physical therapist since 1997 before launching Assisted Rehab.
Being onsite allows Regali and his team to become closely integrated with the Springwell community.
“We’re as close to employees as you can get,” Rigoli said. “We have an office onsite and three days a week we attend department head meetings, so we understand what is needed in terms of basic care, changes in status and new admissions.”

Regali said that his team’s goal is to improve residents’ quality of life by reducing fall risks and helping them age in place.
“People don’t fall while walking to the dining areas so much — falls generally happen in the kitchen and bathroom,” Regali said.
To prevent such accidents and help residents build strength and stability, the community offers an onsite gym with equipment like treadmills, steps and free weights. Springwell also maintains two fitness rooms and offers classes for residents whose fitness levels allow for more advanced activity.
Regali added that therapy services can be brought directly to residents’ apartments when needed.
“When we identify a medical need, we can first help them get in touch with the doctor and review their insurance so there are no surprises. Instead of a resident being on hold forever, we can handle that for them,” Regali said.
Golden added that the partnership strengthens Springwell’s mission of providing comprehensive care.
“Regali understands the importance of communications between rehabilitation and nursing. We believe this partnership further strengthens our mission of providing a safe, warm, and vibrant place for our residents to live, with consistently outstanding care and hospitality,” Golden said.
