Home Depot to open Southern MD store
The Home Depot, a national home improvement retailer, is planning to open a new store in St. Mary’s County, Baltimore-area real estate firm St. John Properties Inc. announced Aug. 4.
According to St. John Properties, The Home Depot purchased a 13.52-acre parcel with intentions to commence business at Lexington Exchange, a 140-acre mixed-use business community in California, Maryland. The store is expected to open in early 2027, according to a St. John Properties spokesperson.
With more than 40 stores in Maryland and more than 2,000 in the U.S., The Home Depot will join a variety of retail establishments, including ALDI, Royal Farms, Chipotle Mexican Grill and RC Theatres.
The business’s arrival in the Southern Maryland suburban town reflects a “significant win for St. Mary’s County,” the local business community and area residents, St. John Properties executive Andrew Roud said.
“Its arrival in the area will bring an influx of new full- and part-time jobs, creating a direct and lasting economic impact on St. Mary’s County,” Roud said according to a release.
“It will also provide homeowners and local businesses with a convenient resource for the products and services they need for their projects.”
Located along Three Notch Road near the intersection of Routes 4 and 235, Lexington Exchange is built to support more than 600,000 square feet of flex/R&D and retail space. The business community contains five buildings and boasts a growing roster of retail, office and service-oriented occupants.
