Baltimore entertainment venue, The 8×10, sold

The 8×10, a live music venue in Baltimore, has sold to Pennsylvania-based Rising Sun Presents, Baltimore-area real estate brokerage Trout Daniel & Associates announced. 

Located at 10 E. Cross St. in Federal Hill, The 8×10 was one of Charm City’s beloved entertainment venues for more than 40 years, featuring musical performances from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billy Joel, Dave Matthews, Chuck Berry and a host of local artists and groups. 

In June, it was announced the concert venue found new ownership and would remain open during the transition. Longtime property owner Dave Rather, along with club operators Brian Shupe and Abigail Janssens, collaborated to sell the property and business.

Rising Sun Presents, similar to The 8×10, is a live music entertainment group based in the Philadelphia area whose managing partner is Chris Perella.

According to TD&A, a new partnership will bring “an 8×10 revival for live music goers from around the region.” Interior renovations and upgrades are planned for the venue, and are expected to be complete by October, according to a release, as ownership will “soon” announce a grand reopening date and schedule for national touring acts at The 8×10.

The combined sale price for the business and property has not been disclosed, TD&A confirmed.

“I’m proud to say that I’ve most likely played on the 8 X 10 stage more than anyone. I’ve seen how special that club is to myself and the Baltimore music community,” said Cris Jacobs, a Baltimore musician who will be involved in the partnership with Rising Sun Presents.

“To be able to carry on its legacy and partner up with such a great team is a true honor.”
