Mizeur pushes opponents aside

Del. Heather R. Mizeur is using her opponents sniping to her advantage in a new television commercial released Monday night.

Mizeur, who is seeking the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, is featured in the ad standing between images of Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown and Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler.

“You’ve probably seen these two attacking each other,” Mizeur says to the camera before pushing away the images. “Think they’ll change Annapolis?”

Mizeur uses the balance of the 30-second ad to bullet point her progressive agenda including passage of living wage legislation, legalization of marijuana and the use of taxes on the drug to fund expanded early childhood education.

The commercial is a reflection of how Mizeur has conducted herself during debates over the last few weeks. She has remained focused on discussing her agenda while refusing to engage in the increasing political attacks between Brown and Gansler.

Mizeur still trails both Brown and Gansler in two recent polls.

On Sunday, the Baltimore Sun released a poll showing Brown leading the pack with 41 percent of those surveyed compared to 20 percent for Gansler and 15 percent who said they favored Mizeur.

The Washington Post released a similar poll Tuesday that had Brown leading with 46 percent. Gansler and Mizeur trailed with 23 percent and 16 percent respectively.
