Amazon donates back-to-school supplies to Baltimore elementary school

Employee volunteers from Amazon’s local Black Employee Network (BEN) affinity group delivered smiles to students at Frederick Elementary School through a donation of 1,000 backpacks full of school supplies, with an estimated value of more than $13,500.
Employees from five Amazon operations facilities across Baltimore volunteered to distribute the supplies, increasing access to essential resources the students need to navigate returning to school this year. Amazon also donated 35 Kindles to teachers at the elementary school.
The ecommerce giant has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars in monetary and in-kind donations since they launched operations in Baltimore 0in 2015. Since March, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Amazon has donated $10,000 to United Way of Central Maryland to support remote learning and $10,000 to the Y in Central Maryland’s COVID-19 Emergency response program, including an initiative to support those experiencing food insecurity.
Amazon has more than 8,500 full- and part-time employees in Maryland, many of whom have children attending Baltimore City Public Schools. Amazon operates six fulfillment and sortation facilities and an Amazon Air Hub in Baltimore city, Baltimore County and Cecil County.
