In a move designed to maintain the health and safety of its clients and staff, Training House Gym instituted a new policy Wednesday that requires its members and athletes to prove they have received the COVID-19 vaccine prior to entering the Baltimore-based facility.

The new requirement, which takes effect Sept. 4, is in response to the recent resurgence of the Delta variant that has contributed to the rise of COVID-19 cases locally and nationally. Training House Gym, at 1500 Serpentine Road, is believed to be the first Baltimore-area fitness facility requiring vaccination proof.

Training House Gym was closed for nearly three months when the pandemic took hold last year and, upon its reopening in May, implemented a variety of mask mandates and cleaning protocols utilizing guidance from The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This included the wearing of masks by all athletes and visitors to the gym, a mandate that was later lifted for fully-vaccinated patrons.

In addition, local health consultant company Vytis Shield was hired to implement a cleaning process that coats all indoor surfaces to effectively create a barrier for COVID-19.

Training House Gym also requires the wearing of masks among children 12 years of age or younger that are currently ineligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
